Thor: Love and Thunder crew hat reveals the film’s new logo. Chris Hemsworth is teaming up again with director Taika Waititi for a second time following the success of Thor: Ragnarok. This makes him the only MCU hero to get a fourth standalone movie thus far, and as a member of the original Avengers lineup, many are looking forward to what’s next for him.

Officially during Marvel Studios’ SDCC 2019 panel, Thor: Love and Thunder will take place after the events of Avengers: Endgame and will see the titular hero on a new adventure. The film will also see the return of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, who assumes her own superhero persona in the MCU — Mighty Thor. The project boasts a large star-studded cast with certain Guardians of the Galaxy members set to appear. Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale, and Zeus, portrayed by Russell Crowe, are set to debut via the solo film. Intriguingly, not much is known regarding Thor’s actual arc, but based on Hemsworth’s comments, the Avenger will be his strongest thus far.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

After a late production start, Thor: Love and Thunder wrapped production in Australia earlier this year. But, pick-ups recently took place in the U.S., as revealed by set images of Bale’s Gorr. Now, crew member Jim Velasco shared a photo of the hat given to those who worked on the project that features the movie’s brand new logo. It’s pretty simple: a neon heart struck by lightning, clearly inspired by its title. Check it out below:

Given the lack of context, it’s challenging to say gauge how this new logo relates to the blockbuster’s story. That said, it can be interpreted in a couple of ways. It appears as a variation of a broken heart, with the lightning strike also looking like a crack. While Waititi promises a humorous and crazy film in Thor: Love and Thunder, he also said it’s more emotional than Ragnarok. Assuming that this is actually what it’s depicting, it’s curious whose heart is broken in the movie. While it’s easy to assume this pertains to romantic love, it can also be other kinds, such as self-love. This seems to be a prominent theme in the upcoming narrative, with Thor learning how to fully accept himself for who he truly is.

Typically, crew gifts are given towards the end of work for a movie or TV show, so it’s curious if this means that it’s the case for Thor: Love and Thunder. Timeline-wise, however, it might not be it. Velasco is listed as a post-production coordinator at Marvel Studios, so maybe work has only really started for him after the movie has officially wrapped. In any case, it will be interesting to see if this new logo has a deeper meaning in connection to the blockbuster’s story.
