Kevin Feige says that Kathryn Hahn is the greatest nosy neighbor in upcoming MCU series WandaVision. Little else is known about Hahn’s character, save her name Agnes. Subtitles have hinted at Agnes’ secret identity, with some purporting her to be Agatha Harkness, a comics character that often appears with Scarlet Witch. There has been no confirmation, though, as to the real origins of Hahn’s character.

When the show premieres, it sounds like Agnes will start off relatively innocent. Promotional materials have given a glimpse into her nosiness. She appears briefly with baked goods in one instance and in 80s like costume in another, indicating that, at the very least, her character changes along with the various episode’s different eras, too. Now, Feige has gone into a little more detail about Hahn’s character, giving away nothing important, but stoking excitement nonetheless.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

During WandaVision‘s press day, Feige spoke about how Hahn’s casting came about after they sat down for a meeting together. Feige says they were both fans of each other’s respective work. Feige says that, during that time, they were trying to figure out who would be the perfect fit to play Agnes, describing her as the “greatest nosy neighbor.” All the pieces seemed to fall into place for Feige when he realized that Hahn would be the perfect fit.

In my memory, it all happened very quickly. She was a fan of what we were up to and we’re fans of hers.

At exactly that same time, we were sitting in that writing room trying to figure out who should play Agnes. It’s usually never as perfect as this…it also solidified the voice of the character…who is the greatest nosy neighbor in the world right now? Not in real life, Kathryn, I’m not sure, but on screen!

Hahn is known for her comedic roles. She’s arguably one of the funniest actresses working today. It’ll be exciting to see her in the MCU, which has its comedic streak. It’ll be even better to see her working within the sitcom format that WandaVision will employ throughout its run. It will allow for Hahn to flex her comedic muscles before things get a little more serious. Hahn has also delivered standout performances in more dramatic projects, so she should prove to be a great fit on WandaVision, regardless of what the material calls for.

Just how much Hahn’s character will come into play in WandaVision‘s explosive ending is unclear. If she is, in fact, Agatha Harkness, then Hahn can be expected to play a larger part in the more dangerous proceedings that are sure to follow. As Wanda’s tutor in the comics, Hahn’s Agatha could help Wanda break out of the false reality she’s built for herself. There’s no telling what WandaVision has in store for Hahn’s character quite yet – fans will have to wait until March to see the full series. Until then, they will have to parse through the series’ double-episode premiere for any hints as to Agnes’ or Agatha’s real intentions.
