Emily in Paris season 1  follows Emily (Lily Collins) as an American taking on a marketing job at a Parisian fashion company in the place of her pregnant boss. The final episode of season 1 ends with a cliffhanger, setting up the events of season 2. Many fans actually expected a 2022 release date for the second season. However, audiences were happily surprised to find out that Netflix decided to air it towards the end of the holiday season. Emily in Paris was one of Netflix’s top comedies of 2020, racking up Emmy and Golden Globe nominations and streaming in 58 million households in its first month. The fish-out-of-water romance’s phenomenal success earned creator Darren Star a second season.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The Emily in Paris season 2 release time is currently scheduled for 12:00 am PST, 3:00 am EST, and 8:00 am GMT on Wednesday, December 22nd, 2021 on Netflix. The details of the episodes’ plots are still under wraps. However, there are some things fans can speculate about given the ending of aeason 1. As of right now, Emily’s friendship with Camille (Camille Razat) hangs in a delicate balance considering Emily’s feelings for friends’ now ex-boyfriend Gabriel. This will be especially awkward going forward since Gabrial decides not to leave Paris. The second season will also show the effects of Mindy (Ashley Park) moving in with Emily. After Mindy agrees to emcee and sing at a drag bar two nights a week she gets fired. While the two are best friends, there’s bound to be some conflict that arises on that front.

One of the biggest promises that Emily in Paris season 2 puts forth is that there will be plenty of romance. The streaming show already sets up an interesting triangle between Gabriel, Camille, and Emily. That being said, season 2 teases another romantic interest for the protagonist in the form of Londoner Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) who she meets in her French class. Undoubtedly this won’t be the only love interest that she encounters. Now that the show has gotten its legs the focus is able to shift past the awkward interactions and on to a more interesting topic: Emily living her brief Parisian experience to the fullest.

So far it looks like Emily in Paris season 2 will take a deeper dive into the characters around Emily’s life. After the cliffhanger of season 1, audiences can expect to see more of Mindy’s journey into her new career. As well, Savoir’s hardened boss Sylvie Grateau will gain more screentime and viewers will get a bigger peek into her life outside of her work. In an interview with TVLine, series creator Darren Star reveals these key plot points going forward for the protagonist. Fans of Emily in Paris have a lot to look forward to from the upcoming season and can binge freely starting on December 22nd.
