Players are speculating that World of Warcraft Classic may be receiving Wrath of the Lich King servers now that they are receiving surveys from Blizzard related to it. Although Blizzard has hinted at the possibility multiple times lately, this is a much more concrete step toward its official inclusion. The multiplayer role-playing game has remained steadily popular since its release in 2004 and Blizzard continuously adds new content for the devoted community.

Released in 2019, World of Warcraft Classic allows players to experience the game exactly how it was when it was first released. Classic is more simplified than the modern version of World of Warcraft and provides a decent amount of nostalgia to those who have been grinding WoW since the very beginning. Wrath of the Lich King was originally released in 2008 and is one of the many lore-fill expansions that have been added since the beginning of WoW’s existence. Blizzard has planned on growing the number of servers in Classic, and its first-ever expansion, Burning Crusade, has a Classic server that launched just last year.

According to PCGamesN, World of Warcraft players have been receiving surveys via email that hint at the potential inclusion of a Wrath of the Lich King server. Chadwiko posted a screenshot of the survey that their guildmate received, where Blizzard inquired how likely they would be to play a Classic version of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, and others report that the survey also asks if they played the original expansion. PCGamesN also notes that a new file folder in Burning Crusade Classic may have files belonging to Wrath of the Lich King.

Due to all of the evidence provided by Blizzard, a Wrath of the Lich King server in World of Warcraft: Classic seems extremely likely. A year prior to the release of the Burning Crusade server, fans received similar survey emails pertaining to it. Players old and new are anticipating the growth of Classic, as many older WoW players have played since 2004 and even recommend that new players begin with the “vanilla” version, despite it being deemed more difficult than the ever-expanding normal version of WoW.

The esteemed MMORPG receives many expansions and updates, both within the current version and Classic. Due to the large and dedicated community (that can be brutally honest when it comes to new content), it’s not surprising that Blizzard has sought out fan approval before adding Wrath of the Lich King. The expansion originally added aspects that have become a staple in WoW, including the level cap, and improved the gameplay in general. Although World of Warcraft has frequently updated with features such as finally allowing cross faction raiding between Alliance and Horde, implementing additional servers like Wrath of the Lich King to World of Warcraft: Classic could be a clever move.
