The X-Men have had several teams among its ranks that have captured the hearts and attention of readers. Among the best rosters is X-Men’s ’90s Blue Team, which mixed both seasoned and new heroes in what would become an iconic squad. In an amazing new piece of fan art from artist Mindy Lee, the Blue Team reassembles and has rarely ever looked better as a group.

In the ’90s, Marvel Comics had two main strikeforce teams of the X-Men in Chris Claremont and Jim Lee’s run on the characters. The Gold Team was led by Storm and featured heavy hitters including Iceman, Jean Grey, Colossus, Bishop, and Archangel. The Blue Team mixed both experienced X-Men and newer faces, as the Cyclops led team featured Beast, Wolverine, Psylocke, Gambit, Rogue, and Jubilee. The first issue of Claremont and Lee’s X-Men is the best-selling comic of all time and is remembered as one of the most iconic modern runs of the mutant heroes. Marvel Comics would later debut ongoing books starring both the Gold Team and the Blue Team, albeit with different rosters from Lee and Claremont’s run.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

On her Twitter account, Mindy Lee, the co-creator and artist of the Dark Horse series Bounty, who has worked in both the animation and video game industry, shared her amazing take on X-Men’s Blue Team. The roster should give former ’90s X-Men readers a nice dose of nostalgia, as the original Blue Team roster looks absolutely fantastic in Lee’s art. The roster features each hero, Gambit, Rogue, Jubilee, Wolverine, Beast, Cyclops, and Psylocke, striking iconic poses. Everything from the poses to how Lee draws the Blue Team’s ’90s costumes is pitch-perfect. She captures the heroes with fun details like Wolverine smoking a cigar, Cyclops reaching for his visor, and Psylocke striking a wide pose.

While the X-Men are such a massive team at this point, it would be fun to see Marvel Comics reintroduce the Blue and Gold Teams and let them go on new adventures. Although, the current X-Men formations spinning out of Jonathan Hickman’s House of X/Powers of X are pretty great. But, still, we wouldn’t object to seeing more of the older teams.

The Blue Team is such a fun group of mutants who are both cool and incredibly powerful. Lee captured X-Men’s best ’90s team incredibly well in the amazing piece of fan art.
